May Blog Hop

Our challenge this month is to incorporate the color yellow into our project. This color is to remind us of the warm summer weather that is ahead of us. So here is the project I created.



First I used a white cardstock base and matted Bitty Dots Basics in lemon tart with a piece of summer sunrise. I decided to add a bit of interest by using my scalloped scissors at the bottom. Where the two are attached, I ran in through my sewing machine using a zigzag stitch. Before attaching it to my card base I stamped the bottom, right above the scallop, with an image from Simply Stationery using versamark ink.

For my focal image, I ran a piece of white cardstock through my Cuttlebug using a long straight nestabilities and matted that onto a piece of spring moss that I cut from the long scalloped nestabilities. The flowers are from Everyday Classics and the stem and leaves are from Garden of Life. I stamped the flowers in summer sunrise and cut them out. I used a stardust clear gelly roll pen to add a little sparkle. Foam pop ups were used to adhered the flowers. I decided this was going to be a get well card and used the sentiment for Mega Mixed Messages. For a final touch I added some yellow pearls.

Congrats to the Grad

A friend of mine needed a red and white graduation card and asked if I would make it for her. So this is what I came up with.



The background embossed paper is from Lasting Impressions that I adhered to a white cardstock base. I used the Nestabilities Label Two to die cut the red and white cardstock. The stars are from the Everyday Classics stamp set (love it) and the sentiment is from the Mega Mixed Messages set. I cut out the small star and added some Stardust Stickles to add a little sparkle and adhered it with a foam pop up.

Well it's been awhile since I've posted. Sometimes life just gets in the way. I have a little thank you card to share with you this evening.


For this project I used a flower from the Green Thumb stamp set for the main image and for the background I used the Background Basics Retro set. I decided to use spring moss, hibiscus burst, spring rain and summer sunrise colors in the flower image, cardstock and ribbon. The background is stamped with spring moss on spring moss cardstock and I rounded off the two corners to breakup all the squareness (is that a word?) of the piece. I matted the white cardstock with hibiscus burst and summer sunrise. The tag is from Cuttlebug's tiny tag die cut set and the sentiment is from the Mixed Messages set. I also added some Starburst Stickles to the center of each flower.

Mother's Day Flower Pots

These little flower pot cards are for my mother and sisters for Mother's Day. I got this idea from SCS "try a new techique". The tutorial for this techique can be found Here.


I alway try to make a unique card to send to my mother and sisters for Mother's Day and when I saw this I knew it was the one.


For this one I used kraft cardstock already embossed from Lasting Impressions for the base and dark chocolate for the top rim where I heat embossed a flourish with some clear embossing powder. I used rub-ons for the Happy Mother's Day for all the cards which I found a few years ago at Big Lots. All the flowers I used were purchased at Target a while back. I used the smaller version of these flowers on cards but these large ones I just thought were way to big to go on a card until now. I am some happy to finally find a use for them since I don't scrapbook.


For these next two cards I used the same embossed kraft cardstock for the rim and versamark ink to add the leaves from the Wedding Day set to the pot. I just pulled off some leaves from a punch of silk flowers to add to the back of the flowers.


I hope my mother and sisters enjoy them as much as I did making them.

Gotta love shoes

My one sister loves shoes, she is always buying shoes. The thing that bums me out is that her feet are bigger than mine, so I can't even borrow them. So I finally ordered the Green Thumb stamp set for several reasons. The first is the set is just too cute, I don't know why I waited so long to order it. Second was when I saw the saying I used one this card, I thought of my sister. Third, this same sister and her husband call their little girl (my niece) "Sweet Pea". So it was meant for me to have.


I had this shoe in my stash and I created the card around it. If you can tell there is alittle pink in the shoe that goes well with the hibiscus burst and I thought the damask went well with the rest of the shoe. I'm going to send this off to my sis just to let her know I'm thinking of her.

Happy 5th Birthday

My nephew will be celebrating his 5th birthday in May and I needed to make a special card for him. Betsy Veldman made a great card featuring the PTI 2nd anniversary set and I just fell in love with it and knew I needed to make something similar.



It is always a challange for me to make male cards, let alone a childs card. I found this colorful paper by Bo-Bunny Press in my stash and thought this would make a great background for my card. I just started pulling out colors from the paper by using summer sunrise, pure poppy, spring rain and bitty dots in ripe avocado. The stars are from the 2nd anniversary set and sentiment is from birthday basics. I just added some zigzag stitching, ribbon, buttons and jewels to jazz it up alittle.

This was a very simple and easy card to make. I got this flourish stamp for a dollar at a local craft store, can't pass up a bargain.



I embossed the Labels Two die onto my vintage cream card base, then stamped the flourish with ocean tides ink onto a smaller die and adhered it to the card with some foam pop dots. I matted a strip of vintage cream onto some ocean tides cardstock and stamped the sentiment in ocean tides then added some pearls to finish it off.

This embossing folder from Cuttlebug really ties everything together. I've really been playing out of my comfort zone lately when it comes to putting colors together. I've always had to have everything match or coordinate, but thanks to some of the ladies on the PTI design team I'm stepping out of the box.

For this card I used hibiscus burst, lemon tart, ripe avocado and aqua mist. I did have to match the feather with one of the colors and choose hibiscus burst.

Make a Wish

This cupcake is so darn cute. I had a scrap piece of this pp from My Mind's Eye Tres Jolie collection and wanted to use it up. I collected some cardstock that had the same colors in the pp and this is what I came up with.


I used aqua mist for the card base and cut out a piece of pure poppy with the nestabilities Label One die. I embossed it with Cuttlebug's swiss dot folder, cut it in half and attached it to the top and bottom of the pp with a zigzag stitch. Using the nestabilities oval die, I cut out a piece of vintage cream cardstock and stamped my focal image and sentiment to it. I then attached it the card with some foam pop dots. I also added some Xmas Red Stickles to the cherry to make it pop.

I took a few days off work to get some spring cleaning done around here. I did get alot accomplished which was my plan. My body is feeling the affects from it but the house looks and smells beautiful. I was able to participate in PTI's blog hop last night which was alot of fun and wonderful to see what everyone created with the Timeless Templates. Boy did I get some great ideas, thanks ladies.

I finally had some time today to play and can I just say I love the 2nd anniversary stamp set from PTI. I love all the art and sentiments that are in this set. Melissa Phillips added a feather to the bird in one of her projects and I remembered I had two bags of feathers. One bag has pastels and the other bright colors, so I started pulling out feathers that would match PTI colors.


For this card I thought this feather went well with raspberry fizz. The patterened paper is by Imaginisce and also has a glittery raspberry fizz in it as well as alot of other PTI colors. I think that's what attracted me to it. I used a decorative punch on the bottom of the spring moss paper, added the sentiment from mega mixed messages set and finished it off with some spring rain twill ribbon.

PTI April Blog Hop

It's Blog Hop Time again, boy times flies. This is my second time participating and I'm glad you stopped by to check out my contribution to the hop.

A friend of mine needed a wedding card and I thought most people give a monitary gift and the Recipe Wrap Up would work great.


I used a shimmery ivory cardstock for the base and added some melon berry for alittle color. I created a belly band to help keep the card closed and added a focal image using the Nestabilities Label One dies. The stamped image is from the Wedding Day set as well as the sentiment. A decorative punch by Fiskars was used on the front too.


For the inside, I just made one pocket to place the monitary gift in and the sentiment is from Birthday Basics. I love how this is simple by elegant, perfect for a wedding.

Happy Anniversary

This is one of the cards I submitted to the PTI's April GSS. I gave this to my parents who are celebrating their 56th anniversary today.


I used dark chocolate cardstock for the base and stamped a florish from the Wedding Day stamp set in vintage cream. Then I die cut a scalloped circle from melon berry and a straight circle from vintage cream and stamped Happy Anniversary in melon berry and the decorative circle in dark chocolate both from Wedding Day. This is a thank you card I made for my sister and her family for inviting me to join them for a little weekend get away.


We went to Lancaster, Pa and stayed on a working dairy farm (no we didn't have to actually work). They have a guest house they rent out. Here is a link to their site http://www.meadowviewkfarm.com/. This is the third time I've been there and just love it. If you are looking for a little R & R, I would recommend it. The family that owns the farm is just wonderful. You have full access to the farm, you can watch them milk the cows and you can have a hand at it if you wish. They have a little chicken coop where you can collect fresh eggs. They have little calfs that you can help feed. This is a great place to take the little ones. My nephews just love going to "The Farm". Here are a few pics of our trip.

These next pics were takin first thing in the morning from the front porch. Notice in the second photo the amish buggy. I think they were all heading off to church cause there were quite a few buggies passing by that morning. In the third photo, off to the right is one of their barns.




This place is off the beaten path, but if you're looking for more to do you can go into the city where there are pletty of things to do there.

Happy Easter

I've been cooking and baking all day so I don't have that much to do tomorrow. This is the first time I've had a chance to sit all day. I wanted to post my Easter card that I send to my family this year. Because of time restraints, I make multiples of the same card for holidays.

I saw this paper last year in my LSS and knew I wanted to use it for my Easter cards this year. I love the little bling it has on it. The green paper it Bazziell Basics Bling and I think it compliments the pp really well. I added a little scallop at the bottom of the pp. Using the spring rain twill ribbon around the card pulls out the blue color in the little flowers. I added a little pearl to the flowers and stamped the sentiment in Berry Sorbet.

Happy Birthday

I lifted this from a design Melissa Phillips did for the 2nd anniversary set by PTI. I just thought it was adorable and loved the feather she added to the birdie. My sister snatched this one up so I'm going to make a few more for my stash.

The patterened paper is for My Mind's Eye and the flower is from my stash. I added some zigzag stitching and scallopped edge to the kraft cardstock.

Wedding

Here's a little card I made awhile ago and found it in my stash. I thought it would make a pretty wedding card.



The patterened paper is from K & Company along with the little heart 3-D sticker on the ribbon center. The sentiment is from the Papertrey stamp set. I added a jewel on each side of the sentiment and used foam pop-ups. I rounded off the corners and added the cream satin ribbon I had in my stash. This was a very easy card to make but I just loved the elegance of the paper.

Sweet Baby

A friend of mine needed a baby card and asked if I would make her one. Not knowing the sex of the baby, I decided to use a bunch of different colors. I love this polka dot glittery paper by Doodlebug Designs.



The lavendar paper is by Bazzell Basics Bling. I thought the shimmer in the paper went well with the glittery polka dots. I used the Labels Two nestabilities to cut out Lemon Tart and Stampers Select. Next I stamped the baby feet in lemon tart and added the sentiment from the mega mixed messages set in plum pudding. I think this card is adorable that I'm going to need to make another for my stash.

Life and Birthday Basics

I just love this stamp set. This card was inspired by Lisa Johnson's tubbler insert she did when previewing her new set "Life".



I just starting stamping away trying to add different colors and also adding a little sparkle to parts of the flowers and buds. The card base is ripe avocado, I stamped on kraft and matted it with true black. I didn't want to add anything else to the card like ribbon, brads, buttons, I think it would have taken away from the image.

March Blog Hop

This is my first blog hop and I'm really excited to be able to participate. This is the card I created by making my own background.



For the top of the card I used kraft cardstock with the Damask Designs set stamped in Vintage Cream. The bottom half I used the Background Basic: Stars collection stamped with Anne Griffin ink (sorry the color was not marked on the cube) on vintage cream cardstock. Another Birthday Wishes

For this little number I used the Life stamp set by PTI and some water color markers. For me, this is the first time working with markers and I am so loving the effect they give you especially with this set.



I added some crystle fine glitter with a glue pen to the center of the flower and cut out the oval using my nestabilities and added it the scallopped oval I punched out with my Marvy punch.

Birthday wishes

I've been playing around with some of my new goodies I purchased from PTI. I love the Life stamp set by Lisa Johnson. The possibilities are endless when working with this set. I was disappointed when I opened the Guidelines Two set because my guideline stamp was messed up. Half of the stamp is all foggy on the underside and will not stick to the block. I've never had this happen to me before. I've read that this has happened to other folks so I'm waiting to hear from customer service to see what I need to do to get a replace stamp.

I so wanted to play with that set this weekend since I had the time. Next weekend I'll be doing some spring cleaning cause we have our annual spring clean up which mean if there's anything you want to throw out that can't be picked up with your regular garbage this is the time to put it out at the curb. For instance I've got an old old dresser (not worth keeping), an old TV, a TV stand, boxes of stuff and I still have to go through the garage and the cellar. That same weekend I'll be having all the family over to celebrate my parents birthdays which are a week apart. The following weekend I'm going out of town with my sister and her family for a little R & R and the weekend after that is Easter. Hopefully I'll get some play time during the week.

Ok, enough of that, now on to my project.

Here I used the new PTI color Hibiscus Burst and the new stamp set Life. I never worked with markers before so I went to my local scrapbook store and picked up a few. These markers are from Towbow. I've heard so much about the Copic markers but I had to take what I could get my hands on at the time. I do like how the markers give it a watercolor effect. I grabbed my Cuttlebug Tiny Tags set and stamped the birthday wishes on it and attached it to the ribbon with a metal ring.

I used the Heidi Swapp edge distresser around the stampers white cardstock and matted it to some spring moss cardstock. I then tied it up with some Hibiscus Burst satin ribbon and attached it to the Hibiscus Burst card. For a final touch I added alittle sparkle to the buds with some Martha Stewart crystal fine glitter and glue pen.

Wishing you joy

This card is so bright and cheery. I love PTI's Polka Dot Basics, it's one of those stamps sets I want to use all the time.



The flower is made with some red felt I had in my stash along with Cuttlebug's flower dies finishing it off with the green button that I tied with some white floss. The sentiment is from Heartfelt Basics where I mixed Spring Moss ink with Pure Poppy. I used scallopped scissors to cut the bottom of the Spring Moss cardstock and added a few score lines to the top.

I used the square plain and scallopped nestabilities and made it pop with some foam pop ups. I added some pearls for a finishing touch.
