Hi Everyone! It's hard to believe that Christmas is two weeks from today. I think I'm ready, all gifts are made, bought and wrapped. I just have to get my Christmas cards ready to be mailed. I got some really exciting news last night, my sister who lives in Florida is coming home for Christmas with my niece. Well they'll actually be landing Christmas evening but that's okay. She hasn't been home around the holidays in 4 years. Unfortunately she has to leave her husband and stepson behind as they could not afford for all to fly. It's a surprise for my parents, noone knows but me that they're coming home. Boy that's going to be a tough secret to keep but it will be worth the look on my parents faces when they see their daughter and granddaughter walk through the door.
Today I have a card to share, I alway send the family a winter/New Year's card and this is what I came up with this year.
Keeping with my color sceme this year of cream and red, I decided to use those colors for my winter cards. I stamped those cute little mittens onto cardstock and cut them out to use as a template for the felt mittens. I just cut out a piece of cream felt to use for the top of the mitten. I punched out the snowflakes, ran them thru my Xyron and added some Martha Stewart crystle fine glitter. I then punched a hole at the top of each mitten and tied them together with some red bakers twine. I created a backdrop for the mittens using vintage cream cardstock and embossing it with a Quickutz folder and matted it to some pure poppy cardstock.
I had picked up this patterned paper up a while ago with the intent to use it for a different project then the more I looked at it, it reminded my of a ski sweater and decided to use it for this project instead. I don't know who makes it as I forgot to look before I cut it up. I used vintage cream cardstock for the base, stamped the sentiment which is from the Snowfall set as well as the mittens on to vintage cream cardstock in Versafine's onyx black. I used the 1/8" scor tape and add Martha Stewarts crystle fine glitter to the top and bottom of the sentiment strip. I die cut a snowflake and stamped the snowflake image with pure poppy, ran it thru my Xyron and added the same glitter. I just love the look of this card and am very please with how it turned out.
Well I need to get ready for my nephews to come and spend the night, we will be baking and decorating sugar cookies and watching the classic Christmas shows tonight. I'll have to set the mood with a roaming fire and popcorn and of course the cookies. Tomorrow the family is coming over for dinner and we will be celebrating my nephew's 8th birthday.
Enjoy your weekend and thanks for visiting!
