Felt Christmas Tree

Hi everyone!  I can't believe it's been 2 weeks since my last post.  It just seems like the closer we get to the holidays the busier things get.

I saw a picture of a felt Christmas tree in a magazine that I knew I had to recreate.  I made one for each of my two sisters and myself.

The felt I used was from JoAnn's.  Using my pinking sheers  I cut the felt 8" across at the bottom and 11" tall.  I used my sewing machine to sew all the way around the tree and left an opening at the bottom to add the stuffing.  But before I assembled the tree I sewed rustic bells and buttons all over the front.  I then cut a stained wood rod and put it in the tree before stuffing.  Once stuffed I glued the opening shut using Beacon's 3 in 1 glue.   I just love that stuff.

I glued a rustic star to the top of the tree

For the base I picked up a terra cotta pot at Michael's and painted it then wrapped some ribbon around it and finished it off with a button.  To hold the tree in place I put a Styrofoam ball inside the pot and stuck the rod in the ball and made sure the rod was long enough to go to the bottom.  I used some moss to cover up the styrofoam.

I've been working on alot of Christmas items that I will be sharing with you in the coming days.  Thanks for visiting.

  1. This is just gorgeous! All those cute little buttons and bells are just wonderful. I love it. If I had more confidence in my sewing.......I would be making one, too.
