June PTI Blog Hop

Lets get inspired by color.  This month we're to show our fav PTI color combos.  I have so many but today I'll show you a new one of mine:   HAWAIIAN SHORES, ORANGE ZEST, RASPBERRY FIZZ AND DARK CHOCOLATE.

These colors are so happy together.  I used the new orange zest bitty dots paper, die cut some white felt along with simply chartreuse felt with the Delightful Dahlia dies, tied up a raspberry fizz button with some ribbon from my stash and added the sentiment from Beyong Basic Borders.

I really need to start thinking outside the box when it comes to color combos.  I'm looking forward to seeing what color combos everyone else comes up with.

4th of July

It's hard to believe that the 4th of July is a week from Sunday.  Where has this summer gone already?  I thought I would share a card that I made for the fam.

I used the Let Freedom Ring stamp set designed by Lisa Johnson for this card.  The card base is rustic cream, the inks are pure poppy and prussian blue palette hybrid ink.   I cut out the stars and punches two holes and tied some rustic twine through them so they kind of mimic buttons, then I attached them to some blue circles I punched out.  I punched out the happy 4th of July and attached it to a scalloped circle created from a nesties scallop die.  I used the vintage chamomile stain around the whole card to give it a more rustic look. 

A card is not complete without a matching envelope.  I used a rustic cream envelope and stamped the two stars using the masking technique, so one looks like it's behind the other.  The blue star is to represent the stars and the red star is to represent the stripes on a flag.

This weekend I'll be pulling out all of my patriotic goodies to display.  Thanks for popping in.

Popcorn Envelop Box Tutorial

Edit:  The finished box should measure 6 1/8" x 4" x 1/2".

I created a little tutorial on my popcorn envelop box, of course you could fill it with other things as well.  Please be patient with me as this is my very first tutorial.  So here it goes......

Every year my family and I host Thanksgiving dinner, I alway like to have a little favor at each place setting for my guests.  This year I have created a little envelop box to place a package of microwave poporn in.  I had a few people ask me how I made them so I decided to do this tutorial for you.

The basic supplies you'll need for this project are :

1 sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock

scissors

corner rounder punch

scoring tool (I use the Scor Pal)

adhesive (I use Scor Tape)

You'll want to mark you paper 3" up at each corner and 1 1/8" in and cut so you'll paper will look like this.

Next you will score at the cut lines and 1/2" out so it will look like this.

Next you'll round the corners.

After rounding you corners, fold all the score lines and add adhesive to the inside of the bottom flap.

Fold in the sides and attach the bottom flap.

I used rustic cream cardstock and Autumn Abundance patterned paper. 

For the focal image I die cut a piece of terracotta tile cardstock using the Mat Stack I die then stamped the  flourish image from Round and Round set in dark chocolate. On some rustic cream cardstock I stamped the dot border from Take Note in terracotta tile, the leaf is from Fall Elegance stamped in orange zest and terracotta tile and the sentiment from Vintage Picnic stamped in dark chocolate.  I then punched out that image with a 1 3/4" punch and adhered it to the background image.  To keep the envelope closed I used a piece of copper metalic elastic that I had in my stash.  You could use velco, magnets or tie some ribbon round it.

A bag of microwave popcorn fits nicely inside.

The brand of popcorn I used was from Pop Weaver.  I liked that it read "gourmet microwave popcorn" on the package instead of the name of the maker of the popcorn and I also liked the kraft bag which goes well with the rustic paper.

 These would make a great favor for a childs party or baby/wedding shower.  A little gift for a teacher or coworker, the ideas are endless.

Brown Paper Flower

Happy Sunday All!  Just a little card to share with you today.  I created this fun little brown paper flower using Dawn McVey's technique.  These flowers are so cute and fun to make.

I thought it went well with the kraft cardstock and the Dotty Biscotti paper.  I combined those elements with some rustic cream cardstock, orange zest ribbon, ink and button.  I used the small scalloped die for the top and bottom of the rustic cream cardstock and a paper crimper for the kraft paper.  I also used the Mat Stack I die and stamp for Round and Round set and attached the flower in the center using a piece of scor tape.  Sometimes I like to omit a sentiment and if I need a card for a certain occasion I can add the sentiment then.
